Welcome to TouchThinking!
Multitouch, haptic, gestural and touchscreens are taking centre stage for more and more of the technology in our lives. The launch of the iPhone marks the moment when touchscreen went mainstream – but the impact and reach of these new technologies will go way beyond the mobile phone market.
We’re of the opinion that the new interaction models will come to dominate the way that humans communicate with technology over the coming years. Sure, we might not all be donning weird black leather gloves and waving our hands around like Marcel Marceau on crack in Minority Report any time soon – but the speed of change is accelerating, and we’re already deep into unknown territory here.
There are plenty of questions but not many answers: What comes next? Will Apple continue to define the model or will others start to fight back? What works and what doesn’t for users? And most important of all- where can I get a pair of those funky gloves?
Helping you make sense of all these new methods of interaction is the humble goal of this blog.We hope that over time, we’ll become your destination of choice to catch up on research, comment, and thinking from all around the world. But we also need your help – we’re good, but we can’t be everywhere – so if you have anything to share, please do – that’s what the comments sections are for.
Thanks for stopping by.
Welcome!

Excellent! Can’t wait to see this develop as the number one resource for all research and thinking touch and gesture related 8] I recently saw August de los Reyes (Principal UX at MS Surface) give an inspiring talk at dConstruct – imagine every pixel has the capacity to operate as a camera was his finishing statement…
Speaking of the MS surface, check out these multi-touch vids by the boys at Stimulant in San Francisco…http://www.vimeo.com/stimulant. Pretty cool. These guys ran a workshop at UX Week which was awesome and highlighted how large-scale touch could be the next hot domain to conquer in UCD.
